The Atlantic Magazine: A Secret Database of Child Abuse
by Pants of Righteousness ini haven't seen reference to this article on the forum, so would like to post a link to an article that was published by the atlantic on 22 march 2019.. .
https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2019/03/the-secret-jehovahs-witness-database-of-child-molesters/584311/.
only factual matter that i could correct is the number of gb members at the time of the australian royal commission - i'm pretty sure it was 7 at that time..

A copy of the Elder's book was one of the exhibits tendered in Case Study 54 of the Australian Royal Commission.
This would be a good place to obtain it.
It's still available here, along with lot's of other stuff that may be interest:

Tortoise - Millions Now Living
by LisaRose inso, i have been recouping from the flu, and i'm looking at random stupid things on the internet.
i was doing one of those lists that are great time wasters, you know, ten celebrities who have ruined their looks with plastic surgery, etc.
i came a cross the list of ten most underrated music albums.

Hi
The above link is seriously well worth a listen. Bit like Faust (sans carrots).

Angus Stewart in opening address refers to 'considerable regret' that no member of the GB has made themselves available for this hearing. -

What did you regrettably not do because you were a Jehovah's Witness ?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses cannot do a lot of things.
i remember pioneers having to quit their jobs because they could not work in a convenience store and sell cigarettes.
i know of a young man who was offered a scholarship to any college or university if he wanted to go to because of his football abilities.

As a born-in JW, I would love to have been permitted to participate in junior sports. I don't necessarily think I would have been that good, but the friendships that are created at that level can last a lifetime.
Funny that my still fully indoctrinated mother now says she wishes she had allowed me to play with the other kids, rather than spend hours by myself hitting a ball against a wall.

Sisters as Ministerial Servants?
by Spoletta inmy wife has been trying to convince me that the organization is hinting at the possibility of making some older sisters ministerial servants.
she is awake to a lot of the false doctrines, but is still clinging to the hope that the org may become more progressive in the future.
anyone else pick up on this?

I can't see them making women ministerial servants. But they could use biblical precedents of women serving as judges and prophets to twist a precedent for the creation of a new class today acting under direction of male leaders.
The title 'helpers' has already been taken - so maybe a passive new title such as 'aides' or 'assistants' could give some perceived status but with male hierarchy remaining strictly entrenched.
Or maybe because the 'women are a large army', a military title could be given. Then they could set a goal to one day become a 'private'.

From the article:
"Tara’s story has been heard at the Royal Commission"
This was not one of the two cases heard in the public hearing and corroborates reports that numerous other cases have been heard behind closed doors.

Elder's remark about contributions not being made
by Simon Templar ini am still in and was assigned to collect the contribution after the meeting.
i checked the boxes with another brother and there was nothing inside.
no contributions were made that day.

Back in the day when I was the Accounts guy, out of a congregation of around 100 publishers I'd say around three-quarters of all regular donations came from 1 elder and 2 aspiring single MS's.
So it wasn't unusual for 'the takings' to be very low after some meetings.

When I started my fade I set the ring tone for any incoming elder's or KH calls to be 'Jingle Bells'.
Suffice to say I need not have bothered. No bells were jingled but 'oh what fun it is to fade ...'
